As a couple with professional backgrounds in architecture and design and a young family, we have become increasingly aware of the importance of the choice of accommodation in contributing to the overall success of any coastal holiday.

Stylish boutique interiors are our hallmark with lots of extra special touches such as original artwork, with local artists' interpretations of some of the most beautiful scenery in Northumberland. And we don't forget to cater for children at our holiday cottages! Some of our cottages benefit from play areas and games room. All of our cottages have children's toys, games and the ever popular dressing up box - if the children are happy, then so are the parents!! Our child friendly and indeed, baby friendly approach, makes us quite unique and we are proud to be setting high standards for family holidays and leading the way in child and baby friendly boltholes in Northumberland

Northumberland and its coastline provide a spectacular location for either activity or relaxation holidays. We bought Nook End as our own chintz free holiday home some years ago and Coastal Retreats grew from that. The holiday cottages which we have built into our portfolio are either owned by ourselves or have been hand-picked to meet the criteria we have selected: location, facilities, comfort and an extra special something……
We now have over 40 properties in our Coastal Retreats cottage collection, some owned by us and some owned by personal friends and clients of Coastal Retreats. We offer an interior design consultancy service, holiday property search service as well as working on other holiday cottage projects in the area. Our sister site www.countryretreatsuk.com is growing and we are really excited about the work we are doing with some beautiful rural holiday properties in the Northumberland countryside, Hadrian's Wall Country, Durham area and North Yorkshire.

Our team and cottage owners in both of our collections will take the time to present your holiday cottage to the five star standards you expect on any luxury holiday. On arrival you will find your holiday cottage warm, with beds made up, fire set, tea tray ready, log’s for the fire, barbeque coals, toiletries and a welcome hamper of local produce.
