Directions to Smugglers’ Hide, Smugglers’ Cove, Beadnell, Northumberland, NE67 5DB
Travelling north on the A1, passing the towns of Morpeth and Alnwick, take the next right turn AFTER the B6347 signposted to Christon Bank, Seahouses and Doxford Country Store. It is signposted to Preston Tower, Chathill, Ellingham and Doxford Hall. Continue along this country road until a T-junction is reached. Turn left here, it is signposted to Seahouses and Beadnell.
Continue through Chathill, over the railway crossing and into the hamlet of Swinhoe. Pass by our other cottages, Nook End and Driftwood that are on the left hand side of the road opposite the post box, and continue along this road towards the sea. Pass over the crossroads as you come out of Swinhoe.
About 200m along this road you’ll see a right hand turn to Beadnell - Ignore this but take the next, larger right hand turn into the village. Follow the road around with the Craster Arms on your left side and the Beadnell Towers Hotel on your right. Immediately, past the Craster Arms beer garden and opposite the village store is an entrance on the left hand side of the road which takes you into the grounds of the Beadnell House Hotel. This is where our Mariner’s cottage is located. Ignore this left entrance, ignore the next left but then take the next immediate left hand turn into the Smugglers’ Cove development.
The Smugglers’ Hide is the cottage at the end of the small row of 4 cottages on your left hand side as you enter the development. There is parking for one car and one visitors car right beside the cottage.
You will find a small black key safe under the light by the front door of the cottage. The code and instructions for retrieving the key are separate to these directions.
Travelling south on the A1, passing Berwick and Bamburgh, take the turning left signposted to Preston Tower, Chathill, Ellingham and Doxford Hall. Continue as above.
