DIRECTIONS TO THE GRANARY, THE GARDEN COTTAGE, GLEBE COTTAGE, THE HEMMEL & MOO HOUSE, TUGHALL STEADS, CHATHILL, NORTHUMBERLAND, NE67 5ER

Travelling north on the Al, passing the towns of Morpeth and Alnwick, take the right turn off the motorway, the B6347 signposted to Christon Bank, Seahouses (B1340) and Doxford Country Store.

Continue along this country road, following signs for Seahouses B1340, past the signs for Doxford Country Store, through Christon Bank, over the railway crossing here and keep heading towards Seahouses and the sea.

At the crossroads with the B1340, turn left towards Seahouses. Passing a few houses on the right hand side, passing Newton Barns, again on the right hand side of the road, continue along this road for about a mile. Suddenly you will come across a tight right hand bend with a left fork (there is a stone cottage on the right hand side of the bend). Take this left fork into Tughall Steads. This is a narrow farm lane and only leads into the Tughall Steads farm development.

To reach the Granary and The Hemmel, pass the converted farm buildings on the right hand side and as you pass the houses on the left hand side of the track, take the right hand turn into the courtyard of the Granary/Hemmel through the timber gate. This is at the far end of the development.
There are parking spaces for two/three cars in front of the double garage doors on the left for the Granary and two spaces directly in front of the Hemmel.

To reach the Garden Cottage, drive past the Granary, bearing right, then take the left track. You will see three white/stone single storey cottages on your left. The Garden cottage ( No 2) is in the middle. There are two parking spaces here, on either side of the stone outhouse, opposite the entrance to the cottage. (Please park facing the garden please to enable more cars to be parked in the space)

To reach Moo House……Moo House is attached to the Granary with parking for several cars to the left of the house on the paved area. There is also parking for on the gravelled area through the large entrance gate, in front of the house.
To reach Glebe Cottage, after the first cottage on the right hand side of the lane, take the first right into a large open courtyard. Glebe cottage is on the immediate left hand side of the courtyard with a small patio with table and chairs outside of the front entrance. The parking space is directly in front of the cottage for one car.

Travelling South on the A1, passing Berwick and the exits for Bamburgh, Belford and Elford, take the exit left signposted to Preston Tower, Chathill and Ellingham.

Continue along this country road towards the coastline until a T-junction is reached. Turn left here, it is signposted to Seahouses and Beadnell. Continue through Chathill, over the railway crossing and into the hamlet of Swinhoe. Take care on this road as there are a few sharp bends and the road is quite narrow in parts.

Slowly, drive through Swinhoe, passing our other cottages, Nook End and Driftwood, on the left hand side, set back from the road. Continue along this road in the direction of Beadnell and Seahouses but take the first right turn once out of Swinhoe, sign posted to Alnwick and Newcastle.

Continue along this road for about a mile, passing Tughall Hall on your right hand side. The road bends sharply here and at the next sharp bend, instead of continuing along the road, take the right hand sharp turn into Tughall Steads. Take care at this point when turning right. Continue as above.
