Directions to Harbour Master’s House from the A1
Take the B1340 heading East from the A1. From the A1 this is also marked as the turn off for Alnwick and the Alnwick Garden and to Seahouses and Bamburgh.
Head towards the Northumbrian Coast through the village of Denwick. From here you should look out for signs to Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle. Travel for 3 miles on this road, before leaving this road as it sweeps to the left with a right turn signposted Dunstanburgh, take a right and then a left turn heading past Lee Moor Farm.
You are now on Windyside Hill. Follow this road for 1 mile until you come to a staggered crossroad. Cross the B1339 by turning right and then immediately turning left rejoining Windyside Hill. Pass through the railway crossing and follow this road for 1.5 miles until you come to a crossroad. Go straight ahead passing the Craster Tower and the small garden centre on your right, going through the stone castellated archway.
Continue down the hill until you reach a T junction. Turn right and follow the road into Craster. Stay on this road driving down past the harbour with the sea on your left. You are now on Haven Hill. Harbour Master’s House is on your left, perched on the cliffs on the south side of the harbour. Continue up the hill, you will see the Jolly Fisherman public house on your left and Robson’s Kipper Yard on your right.
Immediately before the Jolly Fisherman there is a private road leading down onto the harbour wall. Turn into this road, the parking spaces for Harbour Master’s House are on your left. A few yards down this road you will see the sign and the entrance porch to Harbour Master’s House. To the left of the door is the key safe. Enjoy!
