This property is exactly what it sounds like – a real studio. Owned by revered local artist Alan Page, this is where Alan holidays and relaxes, and he gains much of his inspiration from the surrounding countryside and coastline.

Set in the hamlet of Tughall Steads where the old stone farm buildings have been beautifully converted into individual cottages, this retreat offers spacious accommodation for a couple with character and artistic inspiration in abundance!

Muted country tones characterise the décor with splashes of Alan’s unique artistic flair.

This is our first cottage for couples only and is proving exceptionally popular. It's a very spacious cottage for two and ideal for couples coming to the area for walking, cycling, golfing or just chilling out. The Studio appeals to discerning couples, honeymooners and those wanting a bit of space and comfort. We're afraid we can't accept children or babies at the Studio - it really is just for couples.

'So many interesting pictures and artefacts to look at - what a wonderful cottage!'

'A boutique bolthole in a superb location. We'll be back!'

'We came to Moo House last year with a large group of friends and decided we really had to come back to Tughall for a weekend on our own. The Studio is a perfect 'away from it all retreat'. We loved our 4 days without our children and we're determined to come back next year for more rest and recuperation here at the Studio'

'Just wanted to say what a fantastic time we had at The Studio – it’s a great place – we really loved its individuality combined with the sense of homeliness.  I was delighted to find the photography books etc - little touches, I know, but they made you feel at home, as opposed to staying in a ‘holiday cottage’ as such. Same goes for the artworks – such a lovely feature and something that really gave this space its character. It felt as if we were staying in a friend’s house.

My partner and I also enjoyed the fact that the space was just for a couple – no kids’ stuff, nothing that made you feel out of place. And the main living space, with those exposed rafters, was just fantastic! Really appreciated the flatscreen TV, which is something you might not expect to find in a smaller holiday cottage, but it makes all the difference – especially in winter – to be able to curl up with a movie (or the election coverage!) rather than having to be out and about. It was one of the things that caught my eye, to be honest, when I was looking through your cottages online.

So I really just wanted to say that, yes, we loved the place. I realise from your site that this was your first cottage for couples only – great idea. We hope to come back in spring and experience the area at a different time of year. Please do pass on my thanks to Alan Page, should you have the opportunity, for creating such a comfortable and individual wee hideaway.' Fiona Reid, Nov 2008
