No-one can be in any doubt about how this property got its name: its prime position at the harbourside in this popular fishing village makes it a superb vantage point for the harbour activity, the FarneIslands and the expanse of open sea beyond - a perfect Look Out!

Beautifully refurbished in contemporary style and to take advantage of the outstanding views, this four storey seafront property provides a luxurious and flexible village base with easy access to all amenities.

Sunday Times 50 Cool Cottages......'When designers Fiona Mckeith and Roger Copestake had children, they embarked on a mission to prove that family holiday homes ould look just as stylish as their favourite boutique hotels. The Look Out is proof of the pudding, a startling penthouse-style pas on four floors, decked in nautical chic and with a gull's-eye view of Seahouses harbour....'

Recommendations

A large family or group wishing to benefit from a prime village position where amenities and the beach are within close walking distance. A couple wishing to take this property on their own could have the top 2 floors by arrangement. The nature of the accommodation on 4 floors has appealing character but is unsuitable for very young children or the infirm (the spiral staircase has open treads-but we have recently installed a customised stairgate for the stairs leading up and down from the lounge to enable the main living space to be contained for some of our younger guests)

Children at The Look Out

This property is not suitable for toddlers and young children due to the open nature of the staircase but older children will love the proximity to the rockpools, the beach and the many facilities that Seahouses offers a family including the Ocean Leisure Club of which Coastal Retreats guests benefit from free membership during their stay. The pool table and table football will no doubt be popular with the younger members of the family

Location and Locality
Prime location right on the harbour front in Seahouses. It doesn't come much better than that! Shops, sea and Ocean Leisure Club all within a short walk

Coastal Retreats Candid Comments (Giving you the only down sides we can think of about a property before you book!)

An open tread timber spiral staircase does make this rather insuitable for young children or those with mobility issues. There is no log fire but the view is enough to compensate. The 3 downstairs bedrooms are compact but adequate (not roomy enough for a travel cot)
The building itself and neighbouring properties, aren't the prettiest...but wait till you get inside! Please note there is no door on the attic master bedroom just a spiral staircase entrance.

Mobile reception is almost impossible at the Look Out and in Seahouses generally. The T mobile network works best

'Wow, wow, wow! We stayed at The Plaice last year and didn't expect to find another Coastal Retreat that could beat it. The Look Out has everything - superb views, character, original features, space and certainly the wow factor. We plan a return visit in the summer when we can make more use of the balcony and the really nice outside eating space.'

' As regular guests with Coastal Retreats, having had about 5 holidays in different cottages, we were really excited when we were invited to see the Look Out just after the final touches had been made to the house. We loved it and will be booking a week here for summer 2009 without a doubt'

'We just want to say that the Look Out Loft experience was the best we've had and we are seasoned self-caterers. The views from the windows were just phenomenal and we were loathe to go out in case we missed some of the fishermen's activity!'

'Everything about the house was lovely. We felt welcome and trusted and we lapped up the luxury.'

'Walked into The Look Out and Sheila and I both said, wow, wow, wow!  You do this so well and we are so pleased we are here for a whole 5 days!  It is superb '
Made it to Swallow Fish to buy some supper and now sitting on the balcony having tea and too much of the delicious cherry cake!  Thank you for the bundle of goodies!

'We've stayed at 4 Coastal Retreats in the last 2 years and think we've found our favourite! The Look Out is perfect for our family and the kids loved the games room and the ability to go out on their own to the shops/crazy golf/beach etc. It meant they could have a degree of independance and we could have a bit of peace. Thanks for your attention and superb service. We'll recommend this property whole heartedly and will continue to recommend Coastal Retreats. Your company is a revelation. So professional'

'We had a fantastic time at the Look Out. Everything was perfect at the house. I especially enjoyed the view of the harbour. The weather was cold but the kids didn't mind and spent hours on the beach...'

' All agreed that the Look Out was perfect for a family gathering. We stayed in Moo House a few years ago and loved it-our first experience of Coastal Retreats.

The Look Out was quite different but had what we all said were "Coastal Retreats little touches"!!......
Lovely welcome tray with  tea and cakes, milk in fridge, bottle of fizz in fridge...washing up liquid, tablets for washing machine, tea bags, tea towels. Everything we needed to get started! Plus...everything worked and was accesible.
We loved the fact that all the showers were the same quality as we have at home. The decor was great and our 15yr old granddaughter loved the Cath Kitson cushions in her room! The games room in the garage was a great success with everyone- we even had a team football tournament!
The situation of the property was excellent for all the party - overlooking the harbour and close to the shops and crazy golf!
When there was a problem, re a kitchen unit, it was promptly attended to( we were all impressed with the speed!).
Easy to use website and plenty of information and facilities of the local area forwarded to us by e mail before we arrived at the property.

I have just made a rough calculation of the holiday properties we have rented over the years...over  20 (from Rural Retreats, English Country cotttages and houses abroad). We all agree that your properties come out top!!

None of our family seem to tire of Northumberland so we hope to be booking another Coastal Retreat next year'
