Jam Jar Army invades tourist accommodation - July 2011
Supporting the Jam Jar Army are Allison Joynson, owner of Budle Falls and Andrena Hanvey from Coastal Retreats.
THIS week the Jam Jar Army continues its march into hotels and bed and breakfasts, not to mention cafes and cottages.
And getting as many tourism businesses involved as possible will help us reach our target of £10,000 for HospiceCare North Northumberland.
We still need everyone to become a recruit and have their own jam jar to collect coins, and to spread the word to friends and family.
Coastal Retreats and Country Retreats have in excess of 40 five-star and five-star Gold cottages in Northumberland and a jar has gone into every cottage in the county.
The jars have been distributed by the scores of local people the holiday firm employs, including including housekeepers, tradesmen, office workers and interiors specialists, to ensure they are immediately in situ.
Speaking on behalf of the company Allison Joynson said: “Coastal Retreats and Country Retreats are delighted to support this worthwhile cause.
“As a significant business in Northumberland, and a good employer year round, supporting this local charity means we can demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the county, and our team who live and work here.
“It is such an easy thing to do – empty our pockets of loose change at the end of the day – and will make a massive difference to the people of North Northumberland.
“I am thrilled to announce that every one of our cottages has a Jam Jar now, and Coastal Retreats and Country Retreats are a fully supportive member of the Jam Jar Army!”
