Moo House kitchen garden

  1. Moo House, Tughall Steads: sleeps 12

Moo House is a cool and quirky get together pad for all generations with fabulous entertaining spaces, fantastic bedrooms – three with an ensuite – and its separate chill out zone, the Cow Shed. Located between Beadnell and Newton beaches, and with a patio garden off the kitchen and a play garden to the rear, it is an ideal summer group getaway. Available: August 17-24 (£2560) – last minute owner’s release.  Seahouses harbour

  1. Seafarer’s, Seahouses: sleeps 7

A perfectly placed cottage for visiting The Farne Islands, or heading north to Bamburgh, Seafarer’s is a traditional cottage with an arty feel at the heart of Seahouses old quarter. In walking distance of Seahouses beach, pubs, the harbour, shops and restaurants, it is just the place for those who would prefer not to use the car. Available: August 10-17 and August 27-September 3 (£1280)

 Castlegate dining

  1. Castlegate, Bamburgh: sleeps 6

If you like the finer things in life, then you’ll love Castlegate with its impressive master bedroom with large walk-in shower, its high-end dining kitchen and the double-ended lounge. A detached house in Bamburgh village and close to the beach, it has a large enclosed garden for al fresco dining or the option of taking a short walk into the village to enjoy the numerous restaurants there. Available August 17-24 (£2220) NOW BOOKED

 

  1. The New Dairy, Bamburgh: sleeps 3 or 4

This boutique-style barn conversion is one of our Platinum Retreats and popular with couples or families with young children looking to relax in style. At just one mile from the beach and Bamburgh village it is close to some of Northumberland’s best attractions as well as to The Ocean Club private leisure club, of which membership is included in your stay (a small entry fee applies). Available: August 13-20 (£1325)

 

  1. Coral Cottage, Budle Bay near Bamburgh: sleeps 3

Enjoying the view from the garden out to Budle Sands is the best way to kick off a holiday at this charming Grade II listed barn conversion near Bamburgh. An ideal base for visiting Holy Island, this is a spacious Retreat for two or three with its well-equipped kitchen leading to the patio and garden, and its family bathroom and additional shower room. Available: August 10-17 (£1280)

 Alnmouth village

  1. The Alnmouth Boathouse, Alnmouth: sleeps 2

Just a few steps across the golf course from this intimate bolthole and you will feel the sand of Alnmouth beach between your toes. Located in the centre of this village with its well-known colourful painted houses, The Alnmouth Boathouse literally has everything on its doorstep from a fabulous deli and restaurants to its own train station if you wish to venture further afield. However, even if you just feel like enjoying the seclusion of this Retreat, its impressive sea views from the floor to ceiling living room windows will not disappoint. Available: August 20-27 (£890)

 

  1. The Lodge@Shirewater, Embleton: sleeps 2

The Lodge is a peaceful haven for a couple looking to relax, take strolls around the extensive grounds or wander down to the white sands of Embleton Bay. Its interior is no less spacious and summer nights couldn’t be more blissful here than spending them outside on the decked area enjoying some freshly cooked produce from the garden and greenhouse, which is complimentary for guests.

A rural Retreat with two cities under half an hour away, The Old Paper Mill seamlessly marries relaxation from its hideaway base with all the entertainment of what Newcastle and Durham have to offer.
