Things To Do in the Area

Long stretches of white sandy beaches adorn this coastline, from the dune-backed Bamburgh beach to the world-famous causeway of Holy Island and the panorama of Budle Bay nature reserve.

From the long stretches of white sandy beaches backed by large undulating dunes, to the majestic Bamburgh Castle guarding over the village, Bamburgh is the kind of place that you are unlikely to forget.

Both stylish and elegant with a real sense of history, it has numerous excellent restaurants and artisan shops, as well as a friendly museum about local Victorian heroine Grace Darling.

A short drive away, and visible from Bamburgh, is Holy Island, accessed via a causeway at low tide, and the place to have a spiritual quest if you were ever to have one.
