There’s still time to book a group getaway, a luxury house for a small gathering of friends or a cosy couples cottage this New Year. See in 2019 in style at one of our Retreats, with our pick of cottages fit for a celebration plus our custom-designed stays for groups of up to 36 guests.
Our New Year breaks are for seven nights, starting on Friday, December 28. All cottages have tasteful festive decorations and a seasonal hamper for you to enjoy.
Cottages for groups
At Tughall Steads, slightly inland between the beaches of Newton and Beadnell, we have a number of holiday cottages in the same location where groups up to 36 can be accommodated by booking all of the following cottages:
Moo House (sleeps 12)
The Apple Store (sleeps 7)
Garden Cottage (sleeps 6)
The Wood Store (sleeps 6)
The Smithy (sleeps 5).
Moo House is a cool and quirky get together pad with fabulous entertaining spaces. Its dining kitchen seats 12 comfortably for a dinner party to remember. Pet friendly The Apple Store and The Wood Store are within metres of each other, and when booked together can sleep up to 13 guests. Alternatively, neighbouring Garden Cottage and The Smithy are two warm and cosy stone cottages where two families can celebrate New Year together but still have their own space. If you have a party size over 12 guests then give us a call as we can recommend combinations of cottages at Tughall to suit you.
Just outside of Beadnell, in the hamlet of Swinhoe, we also have adjoining cottages Driftwood and Seasalt, which can sleep 12 when booked together. The accommodation here is family friendly so this option would suit those with children. Each Retreat has a log burning stove, essential at this time of year, plus a fabulous garden pod in the communal outdoor space for seeing in the New Year under the stars.
Cottages made for entertaining
Stay at Bamburgh Six overlooking Bamburgh Castle and you’ll have an Instagram worthy location for your New Year celebrations. This exceptional apartment is central to Bamburgh village for eating out or enjoying drinks in one of the bars, but we’d recommend you hole up at Bamburgh Six and soak up that unparalleled view. Both Seagrass, an eco lodge just outside of Bamburgh, and The Lantern House, walking distance from the beach in Beadnell, have light, open, socialising spaces where you can gather around the log burning fire, conjure up a feast for your party and relax in the luxury of your surroundings.
Cottages for couples
For some, New Year is a time to hide away and at The Old Paper Mill in County Durham or The Lodge@Shirewater in Embleton, you’ll be rewarded with peace and quiet and acres of woodland to blow away the cobwebs on New Year’s Day.
