Swinhoe, near Beadnell
Proud to be the first ever Coastal Retreat in the collection, Nook End is ever popular with couples and families and has recently been updated to maintain a contemporary, yet cosy ambience. The addition of an ensuite shower room to one of the double bedrooms, has made it even more comfortable for guests with three bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms.
With a large private garden, and sharing even larger lawns, barbecue and play space with neighbouring Driftwood and Seasalt, this cottage can be as sociable or as private as guests wish. Open countryside views to Bamburgh Castle, and its proximity to Beadnell beach (1 mile), add to its timeless appeal.
Please note that the games room shown in this video tour is no longer available for use but there is a wendy house, garden pod and outdoor games – table tennis, trampoline and swings. There has also been some redecoration since this video was made

Heaven for children, and for the adults with them knowing that they can be well entertained. As well as toys in the cottage, the play area offers table tennis. The large shared garden has a football goal, trampoline, and wendy house, not to mention good old fashioned space to run around. A travel cot (please bring your own cot linen) and highchair are available on request.
Full oil central heating and logburner in the living room
Please note: Whilst we take great care to represent our properties and their facilities as accurately as possible, the décor, furnishings and facilities shown in images and video tours may occasionally be subject to minor change.
The large shared garden, exclusively for Nook End, Driftwood and Seasalt, is located across the service drive from the cottages, so not ideal for unsupervised toddlers. Vehicles do use the road so toddlers need a lesson in road safety. Ideal for older children as they can make their noise away from the cottages.
... we pulled into the drive of our glorious home-away-from-home, Nook End . I cannot explain how wonderful this house was. It was gorgeously furnished, immaculately clean, completely kitted out, well insulated, and spacious (and space isn't easy to find in the UK). We made a roaring fire every evening. We cooked dinner all seven nights at Nook End and enjoyed every minute of it. We did a dozen loads of laundry. Our host provided a welcome basket with milk, eggs, bread, butter, tea, coffee, and bubbly -- all locally made. It even had a Christmas tree. But best of all, it was positively loaded with toys, dress-up clothes, books, travel cots, high chairs, etc for our girls. So many hotels/apartments/cottages in Europe claim to be child-friendly, and few rarely are. Thank You.
Nook End is beautiful. My parents came to stay with us for a couple of days and they were amazed at the standard of decor and facilities - they can now see why we love staying here!
Just wanted to send some "post-break-praise" - for our 4th consecutive year with you (we think) - for what you do up there in Northumberland - we are so blissed out!! What a time! The weather was wonderful, the tides so high that lots of seals had come onto the beaches & estuaries for a rest and the cottage is just so cosy and comfortable
I think this is our 6th holiday with Coastal Retreats, our second at Nook End. Its been another great holiday. Northumberland and Coastal Retreats never fail to disappoint. Even the weather has been lovely.
We love the new addition of the en suite at Nook End. Planning next years trip already!
Our friends recommended Coastal Retreats to us and in particular the location of Swinhoe. We have young children and they felt we would be well set up for a great holiday in Nook End or the other two next door. We have just had a successful holiday at Nook end. Loved it. Next time we'll come back with friends and book the cottage along with Driftwood or Seasalt next door. We had a peek at both on changeover day and they too look like super cottages
Hard to choose which is the nicer. Thanks to our friends for putting us in touch with Coastal Retreats and thanks to you guys for helping us book and sorting out all of our questions and baby equipment needs
Great service from start to finish from Coastal Retreats. We love Nook End. This is our 3rd holiday at Swinhoe. Loved the little changes at the cottage especially the fabulous new ensuite shower room. How did you create that space from an old cupboard? Marvellous.
Absolutely fantastic holiday. Made even better by our two walks over to the Box for pizza nights....great views and lovely pizzas. Love Nook end. This is our 4th stay here. It feels like home
Quirky, comfortable, deceptively spacious, spotlessly clean, beautiful interior decor. Thanks so much
3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Perfect for us with two teenagers. No queuing in the mornings
Very comfortable home for the 5 of us. Brilliant weather so we made good use of the garden and the outside space/sofas/pod etc. It was a perfect house for our holiday. Would return and will probably book shortly! Might bring friends for Driftwood or Seasalt next door
We love the new en suite. Makes all the difference.
Nook End feels like our home, we've been many times and its always lovely to see the changes you make and the improvements. The outdoor sofas were great and as the weather was great, we used every day. See you next year!
A lovely relaxing holiday with great weather (Sept) and with no Covid concerns whatsoever. The cottage is spotless, really comfy, interesting books/paintings, warm, fresh and stylish. We love this area and will be sure to return and to recommend. Think our friends have just booked with you on our recommendation
Thanks to the very friendly and efficient girls in the office
