Number Nine

County Durham

Open the door to this mid-terraced country cottage and you won't fail to sense the taste and attention to detail with which it has been renovated by its owners. Set in open countryside, overlooking fields, the cottage belies its origins as a former worker's cottage for the nearby Consett Iron Company, built at the turn of the 20th Century. Now, this high-specification, light and spacious holiday home can comfortably sleep four guests in luxurious ground floor and first floor bedroom suites.

Spend days drinking in the rolling countryside views at Number Nine or stretch your legs and head to the nearby village of Lanchester - 20 minutes on foot away - for a bite to eat at one of its restaurants. At just 15 minutes’ drive from Durham city and the popular living history museum, Beamish, this area’s rich heritage is easily accessible as are numerous walks and cycle routes from the door.

After a day’s adventures, the sumptuous surroundings of this cosy and spacious mid-terraced cottage await where you can enjoy evenings unfurled on the sofa, by the fire, streaming your favourite Netflix shows.

Reviews and Ratings
Our cottages are graded according to how stylish they are and how welcoming they are to children.

To assist you in finding the perfect place to stay, we have awarded our cottages a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum style rating. This is based on our own standards and the award is given according to a mixture of criteria - location, aesthetic appeal, standard of luxury, facilities offered and style factors.
For example, a Platinum award goes to our most stylish and all round exclusive properties and a Bronze award may go to a cottage that may be a little less refined in places but still meets the high standards necessary to fit into the collection.

This house is largely suited to adults as there are no special child-friendly facilities.

Fantastic post-lockdown getaway in a beautiful cottage. We loved the property, incredibly comfortable and perfectly decorated. Such a great location to explore the area, especially by bike. A very relaxing week with days in the garden enjoying the view in the sunshine and rainy days inside with a book and a glass of wine.

The cottage was amazing. Beautiful design and decoration. Spotlessly clean. So comfortable especially the beds and the sofas. Excellent quality bed linen and towels. Kitchen extremely well kitted out with top end appliances and cookware. Beautiful garden with choice of seating. Fabulous views. Close to the excellent Knitsley Farm Shop. Very quiet, never heard a neighbour.
