Seafarer’s

Seahouses

A minute’s walk from the sea and close to the harbour, restaurants, shops and golf course of this buzzing fishing village, Seafarer’s is a traditional cottage with a distinct arty feel in the old quarter of Seahouses. Its owners, who work in the arts, have selected some of their favourite artworks for the walls, and a guitar and accordian are there for those of a musical bent.

A lovely base for a holiday due to its proximity to some of Northumberland’s main attractions – The Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle – Seafarer’s has the hallmark Coastal Retreats attention to detail and styling apparent in the light open-plan ground floor living space with wood-burning stove.

Bedrooms have views over the rooftops and caravans towards the sea, rocks and harbour and the renowned Swallow Fish smokery is nearby for those who love seafood.

One of our Best Cottages with Real Fires and a dog friendly Retreat.

Please note up until October 2019 the pier will be closed at Seahouses due to harbour remedial works but the boats will still be operating.

Booking options

Monday 1st December

Seafarer’s is available for booking on the following durations.

Location

In the old quarter of Seahouses, Seafarer’s is centrally located just to the south of the harbour and within easy access of the beach for building sandcastles and rockpooling. Boat trips from the harbour give way to island adventures at The Farnes with their unrivalled views and opportunities to glimpse local wildlife; puffins, terns, osprey, grey seals and occasionally dolphins. Back on shore, there’s a range of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes, not forgetting the obligatory ice cream and fish and chips. Don’t go home without popping into Swallow Fish smokehouse to enjoy their smorgasbord of fish and seafood or enjoying some relaxation at the private Ocean Leisure Club spa where guests have membership (small entry fee applies).

For further details on the area, see our Seahouses section.

Recommendations

Ideal for families with older children who want to explore the nearby shops, beach, crazy golf and amusements on their own, couples holidaying together, two families or a girls’ get together due to its proximity to the Ocean Club for pamper days.

Children at Seafarer’s

With no private outdoor space, Seafarer’s is less suitable for toddlers but older children will love being so close to the beach and all that Seahouses has to offer. Travel cot (please bring your own cot linen) and high chair are available on request.

Heating

Electric heating plus underfloor heating downstairs and a log burner in the lounge.

Please note: Whilst we take great care to represent our properties and their facilities as accurately as possible, the décor, furnishings and facilities shown in images and video tours may occasionally be subject to minor change.

Candid Comments

Allocated parking for one car (on street parking for additional vehicles). No garden or patio, but there is a bench outside the front door to sit and watch the world go by.

A caravan park is within sight of the front door so may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but you are central for all the other amenities. The decor is more friendly and homely than plush and designer.

Mobile reception is almost impossible at Seafarer’s and in Seahouses in general.

Guest Reviews

This has been a really lovely holiday, despite the weather. It was so nice coming off the boat and walking two minutes up the hill to a warm and cosy cottage. We lit the log burner every night and sat round the table drinking wine and playing scrabble...marvellous, thank you.

Being next to Swallow Fish has meant we have eaten beautiful fresh fish all week long.

This is our third holiday here for our family of three generations. It suits all of us.

This is a perfect cottage for us. We love being so close to everything and really enjoyed having our friends staying round the corner at The Plaice. It's been a super way to celebrate my 40th birthday, thanks to Coastal Retreats for suggesting this to us.

Warm and cosy and we loved the treats you left us. Thank you so much.

A great cottage, reasonably priced and superb value for money for our family of seven. You have some great cottages and we had great fun going round Seahouses and Craster, spotting the Coastal Retreats. We liked the fact that we could just walk out to the village and really enjoyed the Olde Ship Hotel. We felt like locals by the end of the holiday.
