The Plaice

Seahouses harbour

The Plaice occupies arguably the most enviable location in Seahouses. With two en-suite bedrooms and a further double bedroom, all appropriately furnished and one with its own balcony, its first floor living accommodation looks directly over the bustling harbour and the sea beyond.

This architect designed reworking of a traditional fisherman’s cottage uses glass and chrome to give light and airy modern styling to this prime holiday property. The open plan kitchen/living/dining area opens out on to a glass balcony from where you can watch the fishermen bring in their catches. All this is just a stone’s throw from the centre of Seahouses village and all the facilities it offers.

The Plaice received a commendation for a Design Award organised and judged by the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These are their comments……..

`This is a wonderful example of how to sensitively redevelop a terraced house within a conservation area. The result is a building which fits perfectly with its surroundings and sets a standard for others to follow. It is especially pleasing to see the use of good quality traditional materials and simple contemporary design. This must be a great place to stay. Subject to the agreement of interested parties this project would make a good case study for the Northumberland Coast ANOB Design Guide’

Candid Comments

A compact but cleverly designed property. At full capacity for 6 guests, the living space could feel a little cramped but there are enough dining chairs and seating for 6. No log fire, just the harbour view. No garden but the views from the balconies may well make up for that.

The Plaice

Just returned from a superb week in the best self-catering holiday cottage we have ever stayed at. Beautiful coast and a wonderful setting, and you have appointed the cottage perfectly. If only more holiday residences could be of this high standard then holidaying in our own beautiful country would become much more attractive than the mission to go abroad. You have set the gold standard. Many thanks

The Plaice just got even better. Your eye for detail is impressive

Thank you so much. We had such a wonderful time at The Plaice. The cottage was so lovely and everything was perfect. The only problem was that we weren't there long enough! There is so much to see and do!

We managed to fit in Holy Island, the Farne Islands boat trip, Bamburgh Castle, lunch at The Ship Inn Newton, Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens and then the Christening. Phew! The weather was really kind to us and apparently it rained in London all weekend! The children had a whale of a time. We could have watched the goings on in the harbour forever

To have a real ale pub and a stunning sea view on our doorstep made our holiday perfect. Loved everything about this cottage and the village of Seahouses. It was our first visit to the region and we will go home and tell everyone all about this neck of the woods. The people are so friendly and the landscape and scenery stunning

We appreciated the quality of the accommodation at The Plaice, the interior design and the proximity to the seafront.
