When the sun goes down on a day at Bamburgh Beach House, they’ll be grains of sand in between your toes and a carefree smile on your face. This is seaside holidaying at its best. Just a short walk from Bamburgh beach, this is one of our most popular Retreats for its location, beach hut exterior, coastal chic décor and family friendly nature.
Bamburgh Beach House may appear like a beach hut from the outside, but inside, in true tardis-like fashion, the space takes on grander proportions both in size and in character. Designer wallpapers, coastal plantation shutters and jaunty nautical accessories define the decor. Add in its great location in Bamburgh village and we can ensure that a stay here will feel like a special holiday.
Featured in The Times '50 best cottages, beach houses and rural retreats', it has views of Bamburgh Castle from the front, fantastic timber play equipment in the garden for some off-beach fun, a log burner for snug nights in and a dreamy freestanding bath for some grown-up relaxation.
Please note: Many rooms have been fully refurbished since filming of the video tour and a new one will be coming soon. As such, please refer to the photographs for the most up-to-date look.

Bamburgh Beach House is set back off the main road into Bamburgh. Road noise is not an issue but you need to cross the road to get to the beach.
Mobile reception is difficult at this Retreat and in Bamburgh generally, but there is a landline in the house with a honesty box.
There is a washing machine but no tumble dryer.
This house is a family owned holiday home and as such is unsuitable for holding large parties. Small gatherings are, of course, welcome but no ‘open house’ please. Tents, hot tubs and mobile homes on the property are not permitted. Please refer to our Large Group advice list for further information.
Whilst we take great care to represent our properties and their facilities as accurately as possible, the décor, furnishings and facilities shown in images and video tours may occasionally be subject to minor change.
It is suitable for children of all ages and includes a private garden, outdoor play equipment and the beach is just a 10-minute walk across the dunes.
My first visit to Northumberland with my daughter’s family and we loved the cottage and Bamburgh - the castle was amazing . The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the dog loved his walks on the spectacular beach. Thank you.
A lovely clean house in a fantastic location.
The property was in the ideal location, beautifully decorated, well furnished and equipped. I gave a score of 4 for cleanliness because the outside furniture had not been cleaned. All of the staff I have spoken to and emailed, before and after the holiday, have been extremely helpful, professional and friendly. The only slight disappointment was the property was not ready at 4pm as the cleaners were still there. We gained access at approximately 4.30pm which wasn't ideal as we had a 17month old baby with us. Nonetheless, it was a fabulous holiday in a great cottage. Thank you.
I would have like use of the 3 bathrooms - especially the shower on one level as there was a disabled person travelling. This showers thermostat didn’t meet Health and Safety and was scolding hot. The knives in the kitchen wouldn’t cut a roast meat joint and ended up borrowing a neighbours, also issues with oven use. The property had some issues shared with handling agent, including photos. We enjoyed the holiday in the beautiful location and proximity to beach. A little TLC needs to be invested to make it back to its former glory!
This is the 4th time we have stopped at "Coastal Retreat" properties. On this occasion we booked with 4 friends to whom we had recommended "Coastal Retreat". On arrival at the Beach House we were disappointed that there was no "little welcome extra" pack we had experienced previously. . This year not even any milk or beverages on arrival! The shower room light flickered and the water temperature of the shower was far too hot to use. We reported this on the first day of our holiday and the following 3 days. Whilst we were promised a plumber had been to the property when we were out there was no evidence to substantiate this. By the time that we left, the faults had still not been rectified. Communication regarding this problem was instigated by us and it would have been appreciated for your office to have updated us. As there was only one working walk in shower it was quite inconvenient since three couples had to share the one shower in the master bedroom en-suite. The contact number in the house book to report faults etc was incorrect, as was the key code - we informed you of this error. After our previous visits to your property we would have highly recommended you and in fact it was on our recommendation to our friends that we made this booking. This was in part since as a loyal customer of Coastal Retreats you had emailed to offer a 5% discount - which despite protestations you failed to honour, and did not even have the courtesy to reply to our emails about this. This then caused embarrassment with our friends. It appears that the change of ownership has resulted in many shortfalls. Regrettably we will be looking elsewhere in future unless you can resolve the above issues.
Property was excellent and suited our needs perfectly. Very clean and comfortable. Only complaints are - shower in small shower room was far too hot, think the thermostat is faulty and shower head in ensuite needs cleaning out as water doesn't come out properly. Back patio door difficult to close - needs adjusting. But thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely re-book this property.
We have stayed with Coastal Retreats many times and have always been more than happy with our chosen property and Bambrugh Beach House lived up to expectations. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
