The Scottish Borders

Our Borders cottages begin in the historic and coastal town of Berwick, north of Bamburgh and Holy Island, with its Elizabethan Town Walls and Stephenson’s viaduct bridge.

Much-loved by painter Lowry who holidayed here and painted cobbled streets and seaside scenes from around the town, Berwick is also home to the excellent cinema and theatre The Maltings and one of the prettiest streets in Britain, Ravensdowne. Go west into the country and you’ll discover the handsome Border town of Melrose with its charming shops and annual literary festival, breathtaking landscapes, ancient abbeys, famous woollen mills and one of the world’s best salmon fishing rivers – the River Tweed.

Plan your visit

Our Scottish Borders cottages, Waterfront and Tweedswood, are situated in the Border towns of Berwick and Melrose. Berwick has many activities on its doorstep and along the East Berwickshire coast as well as being a 25-minute car journey from attractions in North Northumberland, such as Bamburgh and Holy Island. Melrose is further inland, and you can find some suggestions on things to do at its countryside location here.
