Reviews

Overall the cottage was lovely. It was cosy, comfortable, beautifully decorated and in a great location. We missed having a teapot and milk jug available to use. We had taken Nespresso pods for the coffee machine, only to find they were the wrong ones. I think the information on your website should make it clear that the coffee machine doesn't use regular Nespresso pods, as it's impossible to buy any others locally. We had to go and buy ground coffee for the cafetiere instead. As for the price; we regularly rent cottages of a similar standard or larger in Norfolk, but pay £200-£300 less for a weekend. The prices around Northumberland are much higher than we would expect them to be.

Mrs Kay E,

We've stayed at number 7 before - this time we stayed at number 8 - we were disappointed not to have a welcome hamper! We were concerned about the standard of repair/security to the windows throughout the cottage - the window hinge in the bathroom was broken and it was not possible to secure the window at all - none of the windows had any kind of lock or limiter on them - therefore it was not possible to have the windows open at night and obviously the cottage was not/is not very secure!

Ms Michele M,

Excellent accommodation all to a very high standard.

Mrs Rebecca N,

The cottage was exceptional. We look forward to returning next year.

Mrs Kim R,

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped, great location for strolls along the beach, and exploring the surrounding area. This is the second time we have stayed at Armstrong Cottages and the third time we've been to this area and would highly recommend it as a holiday destination if your looking to unwind and enjoy good food and breath taking coastal walks.

Previous Customer,

Fantastic Holiday and property. The only missing item was a teapot! (or at least, we couldn't find one).

Dr Edward H,

Superb property. Beautiful decor and lovely location.

Mrs Diane C,

A very comfortable and clean cottage. Very roomy for four people. Very well-equipped kitchen with quality items. The bedrooms were very comfortable. A few small points: The cutlery was not made to hold properly; rounded handles are a fad. Bathrooms were adequate although the Victorian mixer taps and overhead shower in the double bedroom would be better if they were more modern design with a moveable shower hose and simple mixer, rather than adjusting between hot and cold to get the right temperature. In character but not utilitarian. The settee is not made for sitting on for long periods, it tends to slide the sitter forward.

Mr Michael S,

It was a bit awkward in the kitchen to not have a teapot available. If you wanted to make tea, one had to use the only jug, en there was no other jug for milk left. Pouring warm milk out of the little pots was always messy. We would have rather had less vases/objects around but a teapot/more jugs. The location of the property on a busy road during the day meant a lot of noise while sitting in the front garden. Sadly there was no space to sit behind the property. That effects the value for money score. The property was new but it was evident that wear and tear or poor quality installations/fittings are starting to become apparent: the outside door handle came off (coastal retreats informed of this), or e.g. the bathroom window is not closing properly (will be an issue in winter), the front gate did not close properly. Also sad to see that nobody was looking after the property on a regular basis as all buxus bushes in the pots had died of lack of water.

Mrs B V,

We always love our stays with Coastal Retreats. Armstrong 8 has a great location. I have a few comments of feedback that may help in the future with customer happiness. My bed sheets were dirty. When we booked a brochure was sent out with a free child’s swim at the ocean club so we packed our swim things only to find out that we couldn’t use the Ocean club as the membership hadn’t been renewed. The items under the island in the kitchen get very dusty. The hot water doesn’t last long enough for a family of four even with the “Boost”, so we were often left with a cold shower. The house was freezing when we arrived and took a long time to warm up. The coffee machine is amazing it just needs a milk warmer/frother to go with it. The towels could do with changing half way through the week if you’re there for 7 nights. The front door handle needs fixing as it keeps falling off. All this being said we had a great time and created lots of family memories. We loved the games in the house. The walk to the beach. The green near the castle and of course the amazing scenery and beaches.

Mrs H O,

The cottage was fitted out to a very high standard and was extremely comfortable. In a location where parking can sometimes be difficult, the parking was also good.

Mrs L,

We had a very relaxing week in the cottage. The team were very responsive and provide a great service. The location is outstanding and unique.

Mrs I,
