Cooking up a storm: Retreats with restyled kitchens for 2020

A kitchen may need to be practical, but that doesn’t mean it has to have a boring design. The owners of these two Retreats spent the winter months sprucing up their kitchen spaces so you can enjoy them even more.
Here’s a before and after look at their transformation.
High Mill has embraced the rising trend for dark blue in the kitchen, repainting its cabinetry in Farrow and Ball’s Inchrya Blue for an elegant and stylish look. The darkness is balanced by white granite worktops and tiling and a large natural wood dining table creating a practical but appealing space for family gatherings.
We love the fact that by spray painting the cabinets, High Mill was able to keep its solid oak units, really embracing the revival of upcycling to give the kitchen a completely new character.
Just like High Mill, Moo House also had oak kitchen cabinets it wanted to refresh to create a calming and stylish space. The shaker style cabinets were reinvigorated with the warming tone of Farrow and Ball’s Charleston Gray and grey grout was added to the white tiling to match this sophisticated feel. To carry the colour theme throughout the kitchen, the former red pendant lights were painted grey and the bench and table were stripped down and coated with clear laqueur with the table legs painted Farrow and Ball Paean Black for a contrast.
For those who loved the quirkiness of Moo House, don’t worry, the fun elements of this Retreat have been retained, as you can see in the cow print chair and wall art.
